• Expands existing alcohol prohibition for school bus and child care vehicle operators to include ambulance, emergency medical services (EMS) vehicle, firefighting vehicle, and law enforcement vehicle operators.

• Makes it illegal to operate these vehicles on any highway, street, or public vehicular area while consuming alcohol or while any alcohol remains in the operator's body.

• Exempts law enforcement officers acting in the course and scope of their official duties from this prohibition.

• Becomes effective December 1, 2013, and applies only to offenses committed on or after that date.
