Exempts elected or appointed clerks of superior court from the prohibition against carrying weapons in courthouses while discharging official duties.

Requires the weapon to be a handgun and limits the exemption to clerks who meet one of three criteria: possess a valid concealed handgun permit, have completed basic law enforcement training, or have completed weapons retention training similar to that provided to law enforcement officers.

Requires clerks to secure the handgun in a locked compartment when not carrying it on their person.

Becomes effective December 1, 2013.
