Department of Transportation may grant exceptions to standard sight distance requirements for driveways on curvy roads where curves are close and frequent.

Exceptions allowed when safety is ensured through alternative means including advisory speed signs, convex mirrors, and advanced warning signs.

Department may lower speed limits on affected road sections and require driveway permit applicants to cover costs of installing safety signage and convex mirrors.

Law applies only to roadways where minimum sight distance as defined in the "Policy on Street and Driveway Access to North Carolina Highways" cannot be achieved.

Department of Transportation required to report implementation progress to Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Transportation within 180 days of the law taking effect.
