Legislative Research Commission authorized to study ways to improve firearm safety in homes across North Carolina to reduce accidental shootings by children and criminal acts by prohibited individuals.

Study shall examine reducing accidental child shootings through firearm safety training classes for children and adults, and making such classes more accessible statewide.

Study shall examine requiring lawful firearm owners to restrict access to weapons by minors and individuals prohibited by law from owning firearms, including convicted felons and persons with mental health issues.

Commission shall submit interim report to the 2014 General Assembly and final report to the 2015 General Assembly with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation.

Legislative Services Officer shall allocate appropriated General Assembly funds for Commission expenditures related to this study.
