NC S189

Amends the definition of "home school" in North Carolina General Statute 115C-563 to clarify that a home school consists of children from not more than two families or households.

Requires that parents, legal guardians, or members of either household determine the scope and sequence of academic instruction, provide the instruction, and determine additional sources of instruction.

Changes statutory language from referring to "Part or Parts 1 and 2 of this section" to "Article" for consistency with statutory structure.

Effective immediately upon becoming law and applies beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.

Ratified by the General Assembly on May 24, 2013 and approved by Governor Pat McCrory on May 30, 2013.
