Armed Forces members on active duty stationed outside North Carolina are deemed state residents for obtaining hunting, fishing, trapping, and special activity licenses.

Resident status applies to eight specific license types: Coastal Recreational Fishing, Combination Hunting and Inland Fishing, Sportsman, Hunting, Special Activity, Trapping, Hook-and-Line, and Unified Hunting and Fishing licenses.

Previously, only active duty military members stationed at North Carolina military facilities qualified as residents; this law extends resident status to those deployed or stationed elsewhere.

Effective date is July 1, 2013.
