Honors the life and memory of Edward "Ed" Walter Jones, a former member of the North Carolina General Assembly who died December 14, 2012.

Recognizes Jones's public service career including 25 years as a North Carolina State Highway Patrol officer, Chief of Police for the Town of Enfield, and three terms in the State Senate representing seven counties.

Acknowledges Jones's legislative focus on crime control and public safety as the only retired State Trooper elected to the State Senate, and his service on multiple committees including State and Local Government, Appropriations, and Judiciary.

Extends the General Assembly's deepest sympathy to Jones's surviving family: his wife Maryann, two daughters, and three granddaughters.

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Jones's family.
