Governor may temporarily suspend routine vehicle weighing inspections for trucks transporting livestock, poultry, or crops upon recommendation of the Commissioner of Agriculture during emergency conditions.

Suspension applies only to vehicles in designated counties facing imminent threat of severe economic loss to livestock or poultry, or widespread or severe damage to crops ready for harvest.

Suspension does not permit vehicles to exceed safe load carrying capacity on bridges as established by the Department of Transportation, and does not apply when law enforcement has probable cause the vehicle creates imminent public safety hazard.

Department of Public Safety shall develop procedures to implement the temporary suspension authority.

Suspension ends when the Governor determines the threat of widespread or severe loss or damage in designated counties has passed.
