Senate Resolution honoring the leadership of North Carolinians who created and established the North Carolina Community College System on its 50th anniversary as of May 17, 2013.

Recognizes the Omnibus Higher Education Act (Senate Bill 72), passed May 17, 1963, which created the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges with 20 industrial education centers, 6 junior colleges, and 5 extension units.

Notes the system's growth from 31 community colleges serving 79,117 students in 1963 to 58 community colleges serving over 850,000 students annually across all 100 North Carolina counties.

Acknowledges the system's recognition as a national and international leader in workforce development and its contribution to millions of North Carolinians obtaining technical and higher education credentials.

Directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to the President of the North Carolina Community College System.
