Establishes a two-year waiting period before either spouse can file for an absolute divorce, replacing the current one-year separation requirement.

Eliminates the requirement that spouses live separate and apart during the waiting period, allowing couples to remain together while satisfying the two-year waiting period.

Requires both spouses to complete courses on communication skills and conflict resolution during the waiting period; if the couple has children, both must also complete a four-hour course on the impact of divorce on children.

Requires the spouse seeking divorce to provide written notice of intent to file for divorce at the beginning of the two-year waiting period, which must be properly acknowledged.

Repeals G.S. 52-10.2 regarding resumption of marital relations and isolated incidents of sexual intercourse during separation.
