Permits local boards of education to align their school calendars with community college calendars serving their communities, notwithstanding existing opening and closing date requirements.

Allows schools to deviate from the standard requirement that opening dates be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Applies to schools in the local administrative unit if a community college serves the city or county where the school unit is located.

Effective beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.
