Senate Bill 704 Summary

• Establishes the Information Technology Advisory Board (ITAB) chaired by the State Chief Information Officer and composed of IT directors from state agencies to develop standard practices for IT systems management and procurement.

• Requires ITAB to establish best business practices for IT management, professional training guidelines with industry certifications, maintain process and data models for state IT systems, and establish quality assurance review guidelines.

• Mandates ITAB to conduct a thorough study of state IT systems and processes by January 1, 2014, in conjunction with the Program Evaluation Division.

• Requires formal ITAB review and approval for any state IT hardware, software, or services procurement exceeding $10,000 in total cost.

• Effective upon becoming law.
