Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina shall evaluate feasibility of establishing a school of optometry at one of seven specified UNC constituent institutions by December 1, 2014.

Report must include projected capital and operational expenditures, available funding sources, and projected applicant numbers for the optometry school.

North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, Inc. (NCICU) is encouraged to examine and report by December 1, 2014, on feasibility of establishing an optometry school at an affiliated NCICU institution using the same reporting requirements.

Bill responds to a recommendation from the Legislative Research Commission Study Committee on Health Care Provider Practice Sustainability and Training.

Act is effective upon becoming law.
