Allows retired law enforcement officers to be employed by county boards of elections for election day service without suspending their special separation allowance.

Modifies G.S. 143-166.42 to add election day service as an exception to the reemployment provision that would otherwise cause cessation of retired officers' special separation allowance payments.

Retired officers receiving special separation allowances (equal to 0.85% of base compensation annually for each year of creditable service) can now work election day positions without triggering the automatic payment termination that occurs upon reemployment with a local government employer.

Maintains all other existing requirements for special separation allowance eligibility, including completion of 30+ years of service or age 55 with 5+ years of service, and eligibility ceases at age 62.

Effective upon enactment of the bill.
