Removes language from G.S. 143-422.3 that prohibited private civil actions based on public policy discrimination claims, effective March 23, 2016.

Adds a new one-year statute of limitations for wrongful discharge claims under G.S. 143-422.2 to G.S. 1-54, allowing employees to sue within one year of the wrongful discharge.

Restores the state tort claim for wrongful discharge in violation of the public policy outlined in G.S. 143-422.2.

The act became effective upon ratification on July 1, 2016, with the exception that the change to G.S. 143-422.3 became effective March 23, 2016.
