Removes state-imposed restrictions on school opening and closing dates for Chatham County schools, allowing the local board of education to set these dates with greater flexibility.

Eliminates the requirement that opening dates for students be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for Chatham County schools.

Requires all first semester examinations to be completed before winter break regardless of when the school year opens.

Applies exclusively to the Chatham County school administrative unit.

Effective beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.
