• Prohibits courts from imposing fines as a sanction for civil contempt violations, effective October 1, 2015

• Allows full-time students enrolled at out-of-state postsecondary educational institutions to request excusal from jury service during periods when they are taking classes or exams

• Permits students to request jury duty excusal without appearing in person by filing a signed statement at least five business days before the scheduled court appearance

• Directs the Administrative Office of the Courts to study current jury service exemptions and examine whether excusals should be granted for prospective jurors on work assignment outside North Carolina, with findings due to the General Assembly by 2016
