Modifies G.S. 7B-3102(a) to make threat level disclosure discretionary rather than mandatory when a juvenile escapes from custody.

Requires the Deputy Commissioner of Juvenile Justice or designee to determine whether releasing a statement about the juvenile's threat to self or others is "appropriate."

Maintains mandatory release of the juvenile's first name, last initial, photograph, institution name/location, and escape circumstances within 24 hours of escape.

Applies only to juveniles who escaped from detention facilities, secure custody, or youth development centers and have been adjudicated delinquent.

Became effective upon enactment on May 29, 2015.
