Removes mandatory school opening and closing date requirements for Caswell, Rockingham, and Stokes County Schools, allowing local boards of education to determine their own calendar dates.

Eliminates the restriction that opening dates be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for these three counties.

Requires students absent from school before September 1 for family vacations to receive excused absences and be given the opportunity to make up any missed tests or work.

Applies only to Caswell, Rockingham, and Stokes County Schools and becomes effective for the 2015-2016 school year.
