Primary PSAP backup plan requirement deadline extended from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2017 for PSAPs that have made substantial progress toward implementation, subject to 911 Board approval.

PSAPs must have a plan and means to handle 911 calls if the primary PSAP cannot receive or process calls, with the plan identifying alternative call-taking capability.

No requirement for PSAPs to construct a separate backup facility; alternative arrangements are acceptable.

911 Board directed to investigate bulk purchasing and procurement alternatives for 911-eligible expenses and report findings to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Information Technology by May 1, 2016.

Act is effective upon becoming law, ratified August 11, 2015.
