Requires the Division of Motor Vehicles to designate race as "AI" (American Indian) on driver's licenses for applicants who identify as American Indian, at the applicant's request.

Modifies G.S. 20-7(n) to specify the "AI" designation for American Indian applicants while maintaining the existing practice of including race designation at the applicant's request.

Becomes effective October 1, 2016, and applies to driver's licenses issued or renewed on or after that date.
