Amends Rule 11 of North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure to require courts to provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure violations before imposing sanctions.

Sanctions, including attorney's fees, may only be ordered if the person who signed the offending pleading, motion, or paper fails to cure the violation after notice and opportunity to do so.

Updates pronouns in the rule from gender-specific to gender-neutral language throughout.

Becomes effective October 1, 2015, and applies to pleadings, motions, and other papers filed on or after that date.
