Defines "counterfeit air bag" as a replacement airbag system bearing unauthorized marks identical or substantially similar to genuine manufacturer marks.

Defines "nonfunctional air bag" as a replacement airbag with detected faults after installation or any object installed to deceive owners into believing a functional airbag is present.

Makes it unlawful to import, manufacture, sell, offer for sale, install, or reinstall counterfeit or nonfunctional airbags, elevating the offense from a Class 1 misdemeanor to a Class H felony.

Requires motor vehicle transferors to disclose in writing if they have knowledge that a counterfeit or nonfunctional airbag has been installed in the vehicle being transferred.

Designates violations as unfair and deceptive trade practices under G.S. 75-1.1, effective October 1, 2015.
