Appropriates $500,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for the 2015-2016 fiscal year to establish a two-year pilot program on teaching financial literacy in public high schools.

Integrates financial literacy instruction into the American History curriculum and requires professional development for teachers in pilot units to ensure they feel qualified to teach personal financial literacy components.

Requires pilot units to administer assessments to students and report assessment results to the Department of Public Instruction at the end of each semester.

Mandates the Department of Public Instruction to report on pilot program implementation to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee prior to October 1, 2017.

Effective date: July 1, 2015.
