Removes statutory opening and closing date requirements for the Kannapolis City school administrative unit, allowing the local board of education to set school calendar dates with greater flexibility.

Eliminates the requirement that opening dates be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for this school system.

Eliminates the provision allowing waivers of opening date requirements based on "good cause" (school closures due to weather or emergencies) for the Kannapolis system specifically.

Applies only to the Kannapolis City school administrative unit and becomes effective beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.
