Handicapped vehicle owners who qualify for a distinguishing license plate shall be notified by the Division of Motor Vehicles that they are eligible to receive one removable windshield placard at the time the plate is issued.

Upon request, eligible applicants shall be issued a windshield placard at the time they receive their distinguishing license plate.

The windshield placard is issued at no additional cost as part of the standard license plate fee.

The law becomes effective July 1, 2015, and applies to all applications for distinguishing license plates received on or after that date.
