Repeals Article 14 of Chapter 66 and replaces it with a modernized Assumed Business Name Act (Article 14A) effective July 1, 2017, requiring registration of assumed business names with county registers of deeds and creating a centralized statewide database maintained by the Secretary of State.

Allows one assumed business name certificate to include up to five assumed names used by the same person, requires amendment filing within 60 days of any changes, and permits withdrawal of assumed names when businesses cease operations.

Updates related statutes throughout the General Statutes to reference the new assumed business name provisions and clarify terminology from "trade name" to "assumed business name."

Clarifies that the Industrial Commission must issue an order to appear and show cause and order for arrest when initiating district court proceedings for indirect criminal contempt, effective October 1, 2016.

Removes approximately 4.2 acres from Gorges State Park, 0.6 acres from Jockey's Ridge State Park, 0.08 acres from Mitchell's Millpond State Natural Area, and approximately 2.5 acres from Hanging Rock State Park from the State Nature and Historic Preserve, with sales or exchanges restricted to expanding the respective parks.
