Honors the life and memory of Daniel Reid Simpson, a former member of the North Carolina General Assembly who served in the House of Representatives during 1957, 1961, and 1963, and in the Senate from 1985 through 1995.

Recognizes Simpson's contributions to state government, including sponsoring legislation that created Western Piedmont Community College.

Acknowledges his service as Mayor and Alderman of Glen Alpine, town attorney, Burke County attorney, Burke County Schools attorney, Burke County criminal court judge, and delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1968 and 1972.

Notes his civic involvement with the Catawba Valley Lodge No. 217 Free and Accepted Masons, Lions Club, First Union National Bank, and the Glen Alpine Recreation Foundation, which named its athletic facilities "Simpson Field" in his honor in 2007.

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Simpson's surviving family members, including his wife of 63 years and three children.
