Allows local boards of education in specified counties to align their school calendars with community college calendars serving their areas, notwithstanding existing state opening and closing date requirements.

Applies only to Halifax County, Nash-Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Vance County, Warren County, Weldon City, and Wilson County school administrative units.

Modifies G.S. 115C-84.2(d) to permit calendar alignment as an exception to the standard requirement that schools open no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and close no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Effective beginning with the 2015-2016 school year upon enactment.
