Removes the requirement that opening dates for students be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school administrative unit.

Eliminates the "good cause" waiver provision that previously allowed the State Board of Education to approve earlier opening dates for schools experiencing frequent weather-related closures.

Removes exemptions for schools with modified calendars that were designated as such during the 2003-2004 school year.

Requires that all first semester examinations be completed before winter break, regardless of when the school year opens or closes.

Applies only to Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, effective beginning the 2015-2016 school year.
