Allows local boards of education to align their school calendars with community college calendars serving their communities, notwithstanding existing state opening and closing date requirements.

Removes the prior exemption for schools designated with modified calendars in the 2003-2004 school year.

Permits schools to deviate from the standard opening date (no earlier than Monday closest to August 26) and closing date (no later than Friday closest to June 11) when aligning with community college calendars.

Effective beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.
