NC S311

Requires registers of deeds to mark the first page of documents or instruments that purport to impact official marriage records with "THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL MARRIAGE DOCUMENT" before recording them.

Applies only to documents that are not official marriage licenses, returns, amendments, or corrections as defined in North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 51.

Exempts from marking requirement any instruments attached as exhibits to land records, court orders or judgments, or separation agreements presented for registration.

Became effective upon ratification on June 4, 2015.
