Local boards of education may allow public recreational use of outdoor school property when not needed for school purposes, subject to board-determined conditions and terms.

Public recreational use of outdoor school property must be consistent with proper preservation and care of the property.

Boards of education and individual board members are granted liability protection for personal injuries resulting from public use of school outdoor property.

Existing protections for non-school group use of school facilities under prior law are maintained, with clarified liability language specifying protection extends to individual board members.

Effective upon becoming law, ratified June 4, 2015.
