Increases the court cost portion designated for sheriffs' supplemental pension benefits from $1.25 to $2.50 per criminal conviction or guilty plea in superior or district court

Cost increase applies to cases where defendant is convicted, pleads guilty, pleads nolo contendere, or when costs are assessed against the prosecuting witness

Collected costs are remitted to the Department of Justice and administered under Article 12H of Chapter 143 of the General Statutes

Becomes effective July 1, 2015, applying to court costs imposed or collected on or after that date

Exception for misdemeanor cases disposed of after the effective date with citations issued before that date: the lesser cost applies (either the new amount or amount shown on original citation)
