NC S418

Expands the statutory rape and sexual offense statute to apply to any victim who is 15 years of age or younger, rather than only victims who are 13, 14, or 15 years old.

Maintains Class B1 felony classification when defendant is at least six years older than the victim and engages in vaginal intercourse or sexual act.

Maintains Class C felony classification when defendant is more than four but less than six years older than the victim and engages in vaginal intercourse or sexual act.

Adds clarification that Class C felony applies unless conduct is covered under another provision of law providing greater punishment.

Effective December 1, 2015, and applies only to offenses committed on or after that date.
