Prohibits employers from denying or refusing employment to any person based on their credit history or credit rating, effective October 1, 2015.

Allows employers to request credit background checks only when creditworthiness or credit standing is directly related to the essential functions of the job being sought.

Applies to all persons, firms, corporations, unincorporated associations, state agencies, units of local government, and public or private entities.

Amends Article 3 of Chapter 95 of the North Carolina General Statutes by adding § 95-28.1B.
