NC S672

Authorizes the Legislative Research Commission (LRC) to study the composition and election or appointment methods of local boards of education in North Carolina.

Requires the LRC to examine whether particular local practices maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of local boards, including election methods (at-large vs. districts, partisan vs. nonpartisan) and appointment authorities.

Directs the LRC to consider board size, member term lengths, and methods for filling vacancies on local boards of education.

Requires the LRC to report its findings to the General Assembly when it reconvenes in 2016.

Becomes effective upon enactment.
