Expresses the General Assembly's deepest appreciation to World War II veterans and their families for their service to North Carolina, the United States, and the free world.

Honors the memory of those who died during World War II, noting over 360,000 North Carolinians served and more than 6,300 were killed.

Commemorates the 70th anniversary of Japan's surrender on August 14, 1945 (V-J Day), which ended World War II.

Acknowledges that with fewer than one million World War II veterans alive in 2015, the state recognizes the need to honor "the greatest generation" who defended American freedoms.

Became effective upon ratification on August 19, 2015.
