S.L. 2015-76 (Senate Bill 77) Summary

• Increases monthly pension benefits for Wilkesboro Fire Department members in the Supplemental Pension Fund to 150% of the amount paid by the North Carolina Firefighters' and Rescue Squad Workers' Pension Fund under G.S. 58-86-55.

• Establishes that the Wilkesboro pension shall continue to equal 150% of the state pension amount whenever the state pension is amended or adjusted.

• Applies to members who have served 20 years as a fireman and reached age 55, or who have served 5+ years and become totally and permanently disabled.

• Maintains pro rata benefit reduction provision if the Supplemental Pension Fund becomes insufficient to pay full benefits.

• Effective date: July 1, 2015.
