Longleaf School of the Arts, a charter school located in Raleigh, is authorized to elect to participate in the State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees.

The school's Board of Directors must make the election within 30 days of the act's effective date and comply with all requirements of G.S. 135-48.54.

This authorization overrides the time limitation normally contained in G.S. 135-48.54 for participating employing units.

The election allows the charter school to join Article 3B of Chapter 135 of the General Statutes governing state employee health plans.

The act became effective upon passage on July 22, 2016.
