Motor vehicles manufactured after December 31, 1970 must be equipped with stop lamps on each side of the rear of the vehicle, rather than just one stop lamp.

Motorcycles and motor-driven cycles manufactured after December 31, 1970 must have one stop lamp on the rear.

Stop lamps must emit, reflect, or display red or amber light visible from at least 100 feet to the rear in normal sunlight and activate when the service brake is applied.

Buses, trucks, truck tractors, trailers, and semitrailers must have two stop lamps (one at each side) on the rear instead of a single stoplight.

The act became effective October 1, 2015, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
