Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health must conduct a comprehensive study on eating disorders in North Carolina.

Study must identify diagnosed cases, estimate undiagnosed cases, and count individuals currently receiving treatment for eating disorders.

Division shall examine public school official training on eating disorder symptoms, identify treatment availability aligned with American Psychiatric Association standards, and develop recommendations for improving education, prevention, detection, and treatment.

Division must solicit input from relevant organizations including UNC Center for Excellence for Eating Disorders, North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and national eating disorder specialists.

Report with findings and recommendations must be submitted to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services by November 1, 2017, for the Committee's consideration in making recommendations to the 2018 General Assembly.
