Designates Jackson County as the official trout capital of the State of North Carolina.

Jackson County contains the nation's first Fly Fishing Trail with 15 designated public fly fishing spaces for brown, rainbow, and brook trout.

County waters include the longest contiguous stretch of North Carolina Mountain Heritage Trout Waters, representing 25% of the state's designated waters and receiving 92,800 stocked fish annually, the most of any county in the state.

Tuckasegee River, the largest body of water in the county, provides year-round tailwater fishing habitat and is regularly stocked with brown, rainbow, and brook trout.

Eastern brook trout, the area's only native species, has been preserved and protected on public lands by the Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service, and conservation organizations.
