Department of Military and Veterans Affairs authorized to apply for federal funds to expand Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery and Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with site improvements.

Department authorized to use fund balance from Budget Code 23050 and other available funds to provide the required 10% state match for the federal grant.

General Assembly appropriates funds from the North Carolina Veterans Home Trust Fund up to $28,000,000 to construct two new state veterans homes in the Triangle and Triad Regions, with funds serving as the required state match for federal funding.

$500,000 appropriated from the North Carolina Veterans Home Trust Fund to the Veterans Leadership Council of North Carolina-Cares for the Veterans Life Center in Butner, with detailed spending report due by June 1, 2019.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2018.
