Removes restrictions on opening and closing dates for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, allowing the local board greater flexibility in setting school calendar dates.

Eliminates the requirement that opening dates be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates be no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for this school district.

Removes the provision allowing the State Board of Education to grant waivers for "good cause" to move opening dates earlier to August 19.

Allows all first semester examinations to be given before winter break regardless of the opening date for students.

Applies only to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, effective for the 2017-2018 school year and beyond.
