Allows the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education to set school opening and closing dates to align with community college calendars serving the area.

Permits local boards to schedule school openings as early as the Monday closest to August 19 (instead of the standard August 26) if a community college opens earlier, subject to maintaining minimum instructional days.

Applies exclusively to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, making this a local bill with no impact on other school districts.

Effective beginning with the 2017-2018 school year when the bill becomes law.
