Removes opening and closing date restrictions for Guilford County Schools, eliminating the requirement that school open no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and close no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Eliminates the "good cause" waiver process that previously allowed the State Board of Education to approve earlier opening dates (no earlier than August 19) only in counties with excessive weather-related closures.

Removes exemptions that previously applied only to schools with modified calendars designated in the 2003-2004 school year.

Grants Guilford County Schools local boards of education full authority to determine opening and closing dates for the school calendar.

Effective beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.
