Removes calendar opening and closing date restrictions for Wake County Schools by striking the requirement that school years begin no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and end no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Eliminates the "good cause" waiver provision that previously allowed the State Board of Education to approve earlier August 19 opening dates only under specific circumstances involving multiple weather-related closures.

Removes the exemption for modified calendar schools that were designated in the 2003-2004 school year, standardizing calendar flexibility rules across all Wake County schools.

Applies only to Wake County Schools and becomes effective with the 2017-2018 school year.
