Allows Martin County Schools to start the school year no earlier than the Monday closest to August 10, instead of the current August 26 requirement.

Removes the "good cause" waiver process previously required for early start dates, eliminating the need to demonstrate eight days of weather-related closures over a 10-year period.

Permits all first semester examinations to be given before winter break, regardless of the opening date selected.

Maintains the requirement that school closing dates remain no later than the Friday closest to June 11 and that schools meet minimum instructional days and time requirements.

Applies only to Martin County Schools beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.
