Changes election methods from nonpartisan to partisan for school boards in six North Carolina counties: Beaufort, Dare, Haywood, Hyde, Madison, and Yancey, effective beginning in 2018.

Partisan elections shall be held at the time of the general election in each even-numbered year as terms expire, with primaries and elections conducted according to general laws governing county officer elections.

Members elected on a partisan basis beginning in 2018 shall take office on the first Monday in December following their election, with terms of four years.

Does not affect terms of office for members elected in 2014 or 2016, who shall continue to serve until successors are elected and qualified.

Vacancies for members elected in 2018 and thereafter shall be filled in accordance with G.S. 115C-37.1, while vacancies from 2014 or 2016 elections shall be filled under G.S. 115C-37(f).
